Thanks to Miranda for the questions so I could do a quick blog so people stop complaining about my lack of blogness

1. what television show, movie, and band/artist/song, food, should you be embarassed to like, but like anyhow?

Television show - it's been 5 years since I had tv in my house but I will confess to having gone to a Survivor party and loving it (Damn you Corrine!). I make no apologies for my love of Highlander: the series.

Movie - Legally Blond. It just spoke to me, what can I say.

Music - Shakira - she rocks people, trust me.

2. what are you most proud of? good deed, education, personal relationship, etc. why?

Hmmm... my ability to never keep doing shit that I don't want to be doing
"It's better to be at the bottom of a ladder you want to climb then halfway up one you don't" - Tim from The Office.

3. if you lived on a farm, what types of animals would you surround yourself with?

Millions of goats, turtles, and kitties. And a big newfoundlander dog.

4. if money, training, time, space, etc., were of no consequence, what would you be or do when you grow up?

A travelling college professor, who occasionally wrote a good story and picked up small roles in community theatres.

5. if you could invite 5 people out for cocktails, who would they be? (living and or dead)

Peter Wingfield - need to have eye candy when I'm tipsy.
Pickle - need to have more eye candy
Robertson Davies - for academic advice and just a damn good laugh.
Great Big Sea - it's a singular group so it counts as a single person damn it! - maybe they could be playing in the back ground of this meeting for cocktails.
Arundhati Roy - cuz she rocks dammit!
J.M. Barrie - I'd love to get him drunk and hear him talk about Neverland.

Flames Rule!

Hello everyone, I know I know I've been a bad blogger. I will try again and become the stable and reliable blogger of yore.

First off, I was reading Miranda's blog and found that she is trying to follow the hypoglycemic diet. I've been on it for a couple of years now because I am actually hypoglycemic but I've been really off of it because of all the travelling and pre-arranged meals and I feel like crap - not heartwise but healthwise. I'm tired, bloated and generally useless. If she still reads this blog, I'd like to recommend that the Farmer's Market has a stall that sells whole wheat sugarless cranberry muffins and they are fabulous.

Secondly, the trip to Hamilton was actually pretty good. I got to see Niagara Falls, which is truly a wonder of the world. I also got the see the city of Niagara which should really be called Little Las Vegas. I then went to see Chelsea and her lovely M and their great new car the Mattmobile. They were good hosts who gave me a great downtown tour of Toronto and introduced me to the joys of Wasabi Guacamole - yes folks you heard me right. It was so good to see them again.

Lastly, I went looking for people with recorder fetishes (the musical instrument) because of a joke with a friend of mine who believes he has chosen the most unsexy musical instruments to play: the recorder and the oboe. Yup, those ain't likely to get you laid however I felt sure that I could find someone out there in the www that would have a kink. I have not found anything as yet, but I did find the weirdest website I have found to date - if you want to be deeply disturbed and perhaps somewhat amused take a gander at this

On that note, I leave you to read some more (Garth Nix's trilogy - it's a page turner) and then go bellydancing and to meet up with my long lost friend Kanga.

Canada rocks! Hockey is the greatest sport ever!

Since when is spring supposed to be busier than the rest of the school year? Last night was my first council meeting as VP - made an ass of myself but nothing new there, and people seem to realize that I'm not averse to joking around. Actually, on the whole it was a pretty painless meeting, especially considering how snarky the last ones have been. It even finished a whole 4 minutes before the 3 hour mark!

I seem to have done well again this term with regards to my grades, which makes absolutely no sense. I really don't think they grade grad students, it seems as though the departments just want to look good by having super achievers and will make you a super achiever on paper no matter how bad you are in reality. Anyhoo, I guess I shouldn't be complaining, but I'd like to know how I'm actually doing. If a prof could just say to me "I'm giving you an A, but really you're at about a B" it would be much appreciated. I'd just like to know where I should improve (and I do need to improve) and it's impossible to feel I need to put work into it when I get A's for really shitty papers.

And yes, talking about Spain would be more interesting, but I have already re-melded into the North American mindset of "work is everything." It was nice to be back with the Cherubs just to see that life is not only workable, but pleasant when one is not having anxiety attacks all the time. It was a lesson I needed to learn anew. So Wednesday, I promise, I will actually talk about Spain and show pics.

Thursday morning at 4:30am I head for Hamilton and return Sunday evening. I'll have time to myself for all of Thursday and some of Saturday night as well. I would like to head to Toronto on Sunday, is there a certain Highness who would have some time to spare for me or am I coming on too short notice? Kris, if you want to come down on Thursday for a bit, I would love to see you! I'm sure you can charm your significant other. Either that or perhaps Saturday night, but I don't think you want to spend your Saturday evening in Hamilton, I've heard it's a bit of a hole. Mind you, I shouldn't judge before having seen with me own eyes.

Damn, Pickle is getting up at 6:00am everyday for work, thus getting me up. I am zombie woman - how come the Eagles never sang about one of them?

Thanks for all the cheery welcome back messages - Asylus make sure not to strain your eyes too much on the blog :) I will probably be changing the colours around again soon so not to worry.

Well, of course I'm ill. Just a cold, but it's still a bummer. I hope to return to some semblance of a normal life soon, however work is demanding and I take off on a paid trip to an AGM in Hamilton on Thursday and get back Sunday night and I'm all snuffly. However, I've been taking good care of myself so I should be right as rain soon enough.

Hee hee, I can hear Pickle's muffled giggling coming from the bathroom, aparently he's reading something good.

Hockey is my life today - the Flames, whom I love dearly (yes, I am coming out of the closet as a Flames lover, I even have a Flames portable coffee mug except I stopped carrying it around with me because the last time I lived in Edmonton someone through a roll of toilet paper at me) are rockin' through the play offs and it's Canada vs Sweden in the gold medal game for the World Hockey Championships! We made it even after the Czechs beat us 6-2. The hockey rivalry between those two countries is quite bad.

I got my pics back yesterday but I won't be putting them up for awhile because Pickle needs the computer to edit the movie he just made with a friend of his. It looks like it's going to be good.

Anyhoo, love you all and see you soon! I hope.

Well hello all!
Phew, it's been awhile. I had a great time in Seville with my cherubs and it was extremely hard to leave them. I may have cried more this time than the last time. They were extremely good hosts and on my first day I awoke to Marie bringing me a cup of tea.
I will try to tell the story of my trip at some later date when I get some pictures up. It was good to talk to people who had gone through the Prague post pardum thing - nice to know it's not just me being pathetic about how much I miss that place.
Seville is a great city, and I was taken about through some amazing cites with one of Marie's students who is a retired history teacher. It was the best way to see the city - he knew stories about every bench and tile. It is also a city of much pomp as the people seem to believe they are the classiest people in Spain. They even get drunk in a civilized way.
I will write more soon, however I'm still a bit jet lagged and was not allowed recovery time yesterday. I got into town after a 27 hour journey on Wednesday night at 9:00pm and had meetings at the GSA from 9:00 to 3:00 on Thursday. Factor in the eight hour time difference and can anyone say ouch? Anyhoo, it turns out I have a fund raising event to plan for May 31 so I have to get some work done pronto. However, I am still quite excited about the whole job so I actually didn't mind the hasty return to work.
Well, I'm off to work and to find a photo shop. Glad to be back, guess I have to start reading blogs and trying to catch up with what's been going on without me.
Love to all.
